In late February of 2018, Ryan and Robert Marohn headed to India to go on a skate tour across the south region, spread the Giving Room Love, and personally hand off some gear they had fund-raised for in the months leading up to the trip. The brothers started off in Bangalore, the birthplace of Indian skateboarding to meet up and tour the country with Holystoked, the premiere skateboarding network and collective of India. The first 3 days were spent skating, cleaning and adding to the DIY park built by Holystoked known as The Cave. Around 50 skateboarders from across the world migrated to this growing project of a park before all cramming into a bus to start the tour and head to Hyderabad.
HYDERABAD
After 10+ hours on the road with additional time spent halted at checkpoints and other obstacles, the bus finally rolled into Hyderabad. The gang unloaded from the bus and set up camp at Wallridepark, a skatepark and pumptrack built in Snehita hills to help the emerging skate and BMX scene less than a year ago. Among heaps of mosquitos and biryani, some insane tricks, trains and races ensued.
KOVALAM
Departing from the tour and friends in Hyderabad, Ryan and Robert Marohn headed to Kovalam on behalf of Giving Room. Through the sales and donations from our first board and clothing orders, we were able to provide new gear to the Kovalam Skate club, a school program put together by the Sebastian Indian Social Projects. Along with donated supplies from Atlanta, New York and Chicago, the boys carried over 6 complete boards and soft-goods to the school- keeping the little shredders on some great equipment. Thanks to all who helped out, donated, and supported Giving Room.
